Final Magazine Cover

Final Poster

Creating my poster

1. Creating the title (Photoshop)

Text Tool
The first thing i did to create the title for the poster is to  use the
Font and style for title text.
text tool , and then to type the text "THE BOX" with the following font
and style.

This is the original title with no added brushes.

To create the splattered blood effect I used a Photoshop brush and brushed over the tile in a new layer.

This is the end title after applying the brush to the original text

2. Creating the main image for the poster

To get the photo for my poster I needed to get a picture of the actor playing the protagonist, so i could then zoom the image in so the poster only shows the protagonist's eye.

I then needed to crop this i did so using the crop tool shown below, i then re sized this image to make it larger so it would not pixel ate when adding it to my poster.

I then decided to enhance the image, this will make some of the details on eye stand out more and become brighter.I did this by using the dodge tool in Photoshop and applying "mid tones" and then the same again however this time adding "highlights" instead of Mid tonnes" and finally i selected the eye and used "feather" 6px. Here is an image of the end product.

I also needed an image of the main prop "The Box" to go inside the eye as it was a reflection. To do this i first took the image shown below:

I then had to crop this image out to do this i used the crop tool in Photoshop to cut out the background and be left with only the hands and the box,I then filled the background in black as this is the colour of my poster background the final image is shown on he right.

Adding the images together to create a reflection

For my poster I needed to make the box look as if it was being reflected from the eye, so to do this I opened the enhanced image of the eye i created and then dragged in the image of The box and placed it over the pupil of the eye.

I then selected the layer with the opening of the box on and screened
this layer, this gives the effect that the image of the box is being reflected.

I then used the earaser tool to erase any background of The box image that is no inside the pupil of the eye, as this takes away the illusion of the reflection within the eye.

Adding the credits and other extras

Credits-The credits i used for my poster where created by downloading an extension font, in which it allowed me to enter my own credit style text that proffesional movie posters use. This Font also came with commands that when pressed inserted logos such as DVD logo and other logos  typically seen on movie posters.

The rest of the text used -"Coming soon" and "#openthebox" (social networking link) is all used from pre set fonts in adobe photoshop.

Creating the end of trailer titles

•The Titles that I made to go at the end of our group trailer where much simpler yet very effective and also created in after effects.
•1. The first thing I had to do was to use the text tool to create the text again this text was made in Arial Bold and I then made the text white.

2.I then used the radial fast blur and set the amount to 50.I then had to set the trimmings so started the timer and dragged the blur where I wanted and in this case I dragged the blur from left to right on both lines of text.

      Finished end title

Creating titles

I created these titles using after effects
1.Created two lines of Arial Bold text the top line smaller than the other, I then made the center pivoting point of both these text’s in the middle of the page.

2 I then changed the levels of the text and used the emboss effect the titles could have been created without this however I believe these effects make the text allot more professional and complicates then so they are not too simple.

3The next part was to animate the text , to animate the text I used the tool under animate text known as tracking, I then moved the timeline to where I wanted the animation to stop tracking and set how much I wanted the text to anima

Voice over

Some of the feedback we got after our first attempt said that we should consider using a voice over  as I knew no one in our group had a voice to suit the trailer I went in search of someone who could complete a voice over for our group, when I stumbled on a teenage boy training to be a voice actor, so I emailed him and asked him to complete a voice over for our trailer, he replied and thankfully said yes and told me to send me a script I did so and he successfully completed the voice over and hear is the end product.
